This is a Concept 60 SRII. The SRII is the last-of-the-line Concept 60 helicopters and culminated in the absolute best helicopter Kyosho could produce at the time apart from the limited release "SRII Carbon Edition". With an £800 sticker price back in 1996, the SRII was a very expensive model making it a pipe dream for most heli pilots. I bought this helicopter from a fellow concept fan in the North East of England and it came is stunning condition. Built with accuracy pride, the helicopter has only been test flown and as such is in immaculate condition. The light fuel speckles on the muffler being the only sign of use. The heli is fitted with an OS 61 SX engine and stock muffler. I have bought a Futaba GY-401 gyro for the heli along with a matching Futaba 9254 digital servo. The rest of the servos will likely be Futaba and the receiver will likely be Sanwa 2.4GHz as I use an RDS8000 transmitter for my performance models.
There are some big plans for this helicopter - the stock body and skids will be boxed up carefully and replaced with a genuine Kyosho Concept 60 Jet Ranger body set and skids. The body sets are hard to come by these days as they were massively overpriced when new. That said, I have built up quite a cache of them recently so it is only right one of them gets fitted to the bird.
Some will say fitting a scale shell is a waste of a high performance F3C machine. It's a fair point, but there are better hot-dogging helicopters available these days and most importantly, parts are available for them and are low-cost, unlike the old Concept 60's. For this reason it won't be flown like it's backside is on fire. This SRII is solid and over-engineered and as such will provide a very stable and competent scale platform once all the rates are cranked down.
*** Update December 2009 ***
After picking up a Concept 60 already fitted with a Jet Ranger fuselage, I decided to keep this heli in original condition.
